Mark your calendar for “Il Cenacolo Italian Movie Night” at the Marin Italian Film Festival. This year marks the 46th Anniversary of Cenacolista Lido Cantarutti’s “labor of love,” the festival where he brings the best Italian films of the season to the Bay Area and each film has English subtitles. They are screened in the beautiful Angelico Concert Hall on the Dominican University Campus in San Rafael. Check out the whole series of six Saturday films online .
Il Cenacolo has again reserved the small private room at La Toscana restaurant in San Rafael at 5:00 PM, Saturday, October 28, 2023, for an early Italian dinner before the 8:00 PM showing of “Come un gatto in tangentiale” (Like a Cat on the Freeway), a comedy.
Film Tickets and Venue:
The movie is indeed funny in the raucous Italian style. Monica, one of two kleptomaniac twin sisters, (you can see where this is headed) ends up in jail and calls Giovanni for help. To get Monica out of jail, Giovanni succeeds in replacing her detention with community service in a Catholic shelter in Rome led by Don Davide, who is as handsome as he is pious.

La Toscana is about 20 minutes north of the GG Bridge and serves up very good Italian fare both traditional and unusual. We have reserved a small private dining room for 5 PM at La Toscana restaurant in San Rafael for those wanting to get together for dinner before the film. The room only holds 14 so contact our organizer David Cobb if you want a place at the table. First come, first serve. You can order from the whole menu and we will collect funds individually at the restaurant after dinner. Bring your own wines to share if you want, but please be prepared to pay corkage for what you bring. There is also ample space elsewhere in the restaurant once the room is filled.
