Q:
What is the correct glass for enjoying our Prosecco? We are having a little disagreement. I am betting on a glass with a nice, wide bowl but my friends disagree and want to serve it in flutes. Please help settle this for us. Also, is there one that would be the best choice for enjoying with a bit of cheese and fruit after dinner on Christmas or is there something you would recommend?
Thank you!
A:
Best glass for prosecco is a flute, not a coupe.
Prosecco tends to have lighter perlage (bubbles) than a champagne.
We don’t want to lose the perlage in champagne so we serve it in a flute.
Why wouldn’t the same apply to Prosecco?
If it is lighter in perlage* we definitely want to maintain all the bubbles
possible for the maximum enjoyment.

* Perlage is the tasting term for the string of bubbles (or pearls) that rise up in the wine–the finer the pearl the better the quality.
