“A Tale of Two Companies: Salesforce and an Artificial Intelligence Startup”
June 10 @ 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Bay Area AI entrepreneur Kei-on Chan compares the trajectory his own two-man AI start-up with that of Salesforce. Kei-on Chan came from Hong Kong in 1959 to study in the United States. He received a PhD in history from the University of Chicago and taught history at Villanova University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He changed his career to become a lawyer in 1977 after receiving his JD from Golden Gate University School of Law, and has practiced business law in the Bay Area since then while publishing several books.
For the talk today, however, Mr. Chan will talk about his other career, that of an entrepreneur. He was co-founder of an artificial intelligence (AI) company in the year 2000. In his talk “A Tale of Two Companies” he will compare the trajectory his own two-man AI start-up with that of Salesforce, founded in the same year, and today is the biggest employer in San Francisco. He will speak from several points of view: immigrant, historian, business lawyer, and entrepreneur. One thing Mr. Chan insists that he is NOT is a software engineer; he says he can barely handle email!
