Speaker 2/25/21: The Changing Landscape of Sports:
Attracting Young Customers to an Old-Fashioned Game
February 25 @ 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Speaker: Mario Alioto
Mario Alioto will give us a talk about the San Francisco Giants, multiple World Series Champions. His first position with the Giants was bat-boy in 1973, and moved up the ranks through Visiting Clubhouse manager all the way to where he is today, Executive Vice President of Business Operations. He is now responsible for key revenue areas of the organization and all marketing functions. This includes ticket sales, promotions, special events, branding and advertising, content and entertainment, and retail.
When Oracle Park opened in 2000, Alioto was responsible for overseeing a record-breaking sales strategy that continues to place the Giants as one of the top sponsorship-generating teams in all of Major League Baseball. Over the past eight seasons, Alioto has also led the effort that has attracted more than 26 million fans through the turnstiles, and is a key member of the leadership team that is responsible for making the ballpark experience at Oracle Park one of the best in professional sports.
The St. Mary’s graduate lived out every youngster’s dream, from bat boy to front office, and has a lot to say about the game. He will discuss how the enduring character of the game of baseball can reach the youth of today.
