As we continue our series of “Fifth-Thursday Wine Tastings,” we are moving through different regions of Italy from south to north, and now entering into central Italy. We will be tasting the wines of Campania, Basilicata, Lazio and Abbruzzo/Molise. The reason we are sampling from an expanded number of provinces is that the predominant red—and pretty much the only red of any interest produced in Campania and Basilicata—is the renowned Aglianico. So of course we will taste Aglianico, but will also reach out to surrounding provinces to get a wider selection.

Ron Fenolio
Ron Fenolio, Cenacolista and a Club Past President, is a fourth-generation winemaker and the founder and owner of Veedercrest Estates. His wines have been honored nationally and internationally; he is a significant wine importer as well. Ron is the Chair of the 350-winery Family Winemakers of California and was recently awarded the Antonin Careme Medal by the American Culinary Federation.
