Everyone knows Dick Wahlberg. We have benefited from his amazing musical knowledge and huge record collection many times. This week he will be playing rare recordings of live performances by the San Francisco Symphony. Dick’s good friend (and former Cenacolista), Art Bloomfield, knew Pierre Monteux personally and will provide anecdotes about and impersonations of the great man. Art is a native San Franciscan, attended Saint Ignatius High School, and served as music critic for the San Francisco Examiner. He is a writer with numerous books to his credit including a history of the San Francisco Opera. He will speak about Pierre Monteux and the San Francisco Symphony, and will present some rare broadcast recordings.
