January 19, 2011: Ian W. Toll Ian W. Toll, the author of the recently published book Pacific Crucible: the War at Sea in the Pacific, 1941-42, enjoys a well-earned reputation as an historian of the US naval power, having published a couple of years ago Six Frigates, the history of the founding of the US Navy. His Pacific Crucible illuminates the greatest naval battle in history from Pearl Harbor to six months later at Midway Island, where the US Navy sent four Japanese Aircraft Carriers to the bottom and turned the fortunes of the war. The book is well researched and has received great reviews. Mr. Toll makes his home here in San Francisco. Copies of this book will be available for purchase.
