January 5, 2012: Richard Wahlberg Our long-time member and musical master Richard Wahlberg plans to give us a sampling of the music so loved by our fellow Cenacolista, William Barnsdale, who passed away on October 6, 2006. Barnsdale, who served for more than 35 years as a diplomat with the US Department of State and the United Nations, had a great number of posts all over the world, acquiring a love of music, especially while serving in various Italian cities. After joining Il Cenacolo, Mr. Barnsdale befriended Richard Wahlberg and the two spent a considerable amount of time playing and listening to the music that Barnsdale had learned to appreciate. This is the music that Wahlberg plans to play for us, as a tribute to his friend. Of course, Richard Wahlberg also plans to play the records on his old Victrola - an experience no Cenacolista should ever miss. (We are also making arrangements to bring Bill's widow Frances Barnsdale to the luncheon.)
