Keith Hedley has made a career in high-tech sales, but while on a "Silicon Valley Sabbatical" he discovered the USS Hornet Museum at the former Alameda Naval Air Station. Since then, over the past four years, he has volunteered as a docent for more than 2,000 hours.
In the thirteen years that the Hornet Museum has been open, the restoration process has never slowed. It is now a truly unique vessel that is unlike any other aircraft carrier museum. The goal has been to bring the ship back to the condition and configuration it had when it participated in the Apollo 11 and 12 recovery missions. Today, the ship appears almost ready to put to sea. Over the next three to five years the Hornet Museum will be faced with challenges, but also there are fabulous opportunities that the volunteers are working hard to make happen. Keith will tell and show us what they are!
