May 12, 2011: Jim Fousekis
Jim has been a lawyer in San Francisco for over forty years and has recently retired to complete his personal book and memoir about the coming to America of his mother and father and uncle, and of the early days of the Greek community in San Francisco in which they settled and of which they became a part. Jim's story is the immigrant tale that is so familiar, with its obvious parallels to the Italian experience, but his story is of the Greek life and times in San Francisco around the turn of the century and later. Jim talks about growing up in this community, of the effects it had on him, and of his pursuit of his education, to be followed by his long career in the legal profession, and where this has led him today. It's an inspiring story of three people who came over from the "Old Country" with very little to hang on to and of what has transpired from this simple beginning.
