Raheela Ghafur came to the United States on a Fulbright Scholarship and worked for the U.S. Department of Overseas Schools for Secondary Education. She holds a Master of Arts in Comparative Literature and a Master of Education from University of California San Diego, and a General Certificate of Education from Cambridge University.
Her well-recognized family in Pakistan has been involved in politics and government since the country's founding. Family members have served Pakistan in significant ways including as Senators, Army Generals, an Air Marshall and Chief of Police for Lahore.
Raheela Ghafur and her husband Dr. Eberhard Fiebig, Professor & Vice Chair, UCSF Department of Laboratory Medicine and Director, SF General Hospital Clinical Laboratory, live in Pacifica, California.
