INFORMATION FOR SPEAKERS

Leslie Iacopi will speak about how the Golden Gate Yacht Club won the Americas Cup in Valencia and what the next race would mean to the San Francisco Bay Area.

Born and raised in San Francisco, Leslie Iacopi graduated from Santa Clara University with a Bachelor of Sciences in Biology and holds Masters Degrees in Ecology and Systematic Biology, together with a Masters in Business Administration, concentrating in Management and Marketing. She is currently the Director for the Medical Staff Survey Program, which surveys hospitals in California for Accreditation and Licensure in conjunction with the Joint Commission from Chicago and the California Department of Public Health. In addition to all of these credentials, Leslie is an avid sportswoman as well as an experienced sailor on San Francisco Bay, currently serving as the Secretary and the Race Director for the Golden Gate Yacht Club (GGYC) on the Marina.

Leslie will tell us how the BMW.ORACLE-GGYC won the Americas Cup in Valencia, Spain.She will also try to describe what it felt like to win and the excitement surrounding the GGYC that day and on the day "we brought it home to San Francisco." Depending on how the race committee votes at the end of December, she will also outline what hosting the next Americas Cup race here in San Francisco Bay will mean to our Bay Area.
