Bill Davidow has been a high-technology industry executive and a venture investor for more than 30 years. Bill continues as an active advisor to MDV. He is the author of Marketing High Technology, a co-author of Total Customer Service and The Virtual Corporation, and author of the soon to be published Overconnected: The Miracle and Curse of the Internet.

While at Intel Corporation, Bill served as senior vice president of marketing and sales, vice president of the microcomputer division and vice president of the microcomputer systems division. Prior to Intel, Bill worked in various managerial positions at Hewlett Packard and General Electric. He has served on the boards of numerous public and private companies.

Bill’s community involvement extends to serving on the boards of California Institute of Technology, Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research,  the California Nature Conservancy. He also sits on the Foundation Board of UCSF Medical Center.

Bill earned a bachelor's degree summa cum laude from Dartmouth College, a master's degree in electrical engineering from both Dartmouth College and the California Institute of Technology, and a doctorate in electrical engineering from Stanford University.
 
Overconnected: How the Internet Creates a More Volatile World
The internet has created on overconnected world. In this new world, the Internet drives change at breakneck speed and fosters abrupt transitions in our social, economic, regulatory, and government environments. In these new environments many institutions thrive but unfortunately many others have become ineffective and are struggling. Overconnectivity has played an important role in our current economic crisis--yes, the internet made it much worse.

This talk explains at the most basic level how the Internet drives these transformations and what to do about it.
