The San Francisco Bay Water Emergency Transportation Authority is building four new ferries that feature very low wake, very low emissions, state-of-the-art machinery, electronics and safety equipment plus ultracomfortable passenger areas. The boats are designed and built to enhance the ferry passengers' travel experience in an environmentally friendly way.
Charlie Walther served as engineer and construction manager for the design and construction of these vessels. He is principal of Walther Engineering Services, which provides a variety of services to the marine industry in the area of cost-effective vessel operations. He currently provides technical support and vessel construction management services to industry, the Coast Guard and the Navy, including project management for the fastest surface ship in the Navy.
