Thursday, January 28, 2010 Another fellow Cenacolista, Prof. Charles A. Fracchia, author of 14 books, including four on various aspects of San Francisco history, will describe his latest, just published last month: When the Water Came Up to Montgomery Street. Charles, Department Chair of the library system at City College of San Francisco, has pursued dual careers in investment counseling and teaching - he is also on the faculty of the noted Fromm Institute at USF. His latest publication, well-researched and wonderfully illustrated, is a captivating work that glues both serious reader and casual peruser to its pages - giving all of us a new slant on the events that shaped our city from a sleepy trading village to one of the busiest ports in the United States. His presentation will enlighten our Cenacolo members about what really happened in San Francisco during the Gold Rush, and must not be missed!
